Joseph
Klockner

Joseph
founded Klockner & Company in 1982. He has over 40 years
experience
in the construction industry having been raised in the family
steel
fabrication and erection business during the '60s and '70s.
At first, Joseph worked as a carpenter, electrician, and plumber,
performing
multiple trade aspects of every job. Finally, he realized that
his
best talents lay in managing projects and developing relationships
with
architects, designers and specialists in the various specific
trades.
Joseph
nurtured the company through its early growth years, as it moved
from
row house renovations in Washington, DC to sophisticated commercial
high-end
finish specialties on multi-million dollar historic projects. Finally,
he
led us into the development of custom homes, settling into a niche
of high-
end residential custom additions and rehabs in Northwest Washington,
DC
and Montgomery County, MD markets.
Joseph
lives in Takoma Park with his son Leif, just graduating from the
University
of Massachusetts this year (May 2008), with occasional
visits
from his
daughter Nikita, who just earned her Masters Degree in social work
(Dec.
2007).
Community
involvement is important to Joseph and this is evident in his long
tenured
volunteer board service for the Takoma Park Silver Spring (TPSS)
Cooperative.

In
1983, Joseph was a co-recipient of a Washingtonian
award for
innovative design and execution in the renovation and reconstruction
of a multi-apartment townhome.
Also,
in 1983, Mr. Klockner accepted a new role in
commercial
restoration. As
a key subcontractor for the
Sumner School Historic
Preservation Project,
Klockner &
Company established a reputation
among some of Washington's
most highly regarded commercial
construction managers and developers. The
scope of this Board of
Education showcase project included: demolition
and shoring,
concrete and masonry, rough carpentry and architectural woodwork,
including all doors and windows. The scale of work on this three
year project was over $500,000.
In
the past, Mr. Klockner was an alternative energy consultant and
technical
assistant for the federally funded Sun Seed Solar Project.
He supervised
the construction and installation of the process
equipment and assisted
in the design of multiple aspects of the
Floyd County, VA Agricultural
Fuel and Energy Cooperative Plant;
as well as designing, building and installing
several passive solar
systems for residential applications.
