Country Dome Home
Floyd County, VA

The Dome was conceived in 1973 with inspiration from Buckminster Fuller’s Dome books. This house was built with materials indigenous to the land in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. Many aspects of the project were rebuilt throughout the next 30 years to bring it to its current state of exquisite stone masonry, cypress decking, unique interior joinery with quarter-sawn red oak materials within its intriguing angular design.  The Dome overlooks a very inviting freshwater pond (shown above).
