‘50s Country House Expanded

This owner’s architectural background and tasteful approach saved this traditional Country Home from being razed. Working closely with our design/build team, the owner’s collaborated extensively to refine the plan and produce this spacious yet warm and comfortable Potomac home. The arched openings of the garage doors welcome you to this splendid ‘house on the hill’ where curves are repeated in doorways and alcoves to evoke that “country feeling” with sophistication, especially when you visit the reconstructed entry areas, where Klockner rebuilt the old, plain white entrance door and created an inviting exterior foyer with pillars and white painted trim. Back-to-back brick fireplaces were re-faced with exquisite stonework. The spacious kitchen shows rich-toned cherry cabinets with ‘Fireslate’ counters. Storage spaces are detailed throughout all areas of the house with a space for everything to the homeowner’s delight, thus enabling ‘neatness and order’ to be easily maintained. Small touches such as closet lights that activate automatically as each closet door is opened point to the thoroughness and fine detailing of the project.
